The Declaration of Kanedependence

After Harry Kane’s two-goal performance against DR Congo at the 2026 World Cup, Paddy Power made England’s reliance on their captain official. Coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we unveiled The Declaration of Kane-Dependence on July 4th, a tongue-in-cheek proclamation written in the style of the 1776 original. Created in less than three days, the activation came to life with a 4th of July signing ceremony outside the Houses of Parliament, where a town crier read the proclamation before former England international Tim Sherwood, who gave Kane his first Premier League start, signed it. Because without their striker’s “certain, unalienable right foot,” who knows where England would be.
